Course Description: The power is in the pump, as
you will learn when you see the many different ways
you can sculpt your muscles. Participants will never
be bored when you learn how to plan your strength
training classes and conditioning programs. This
workshop is packed with a wide variety of exercises
and variations using dumbbells, body bars, stability
balls and steps for a fun, innovative workout!
The Ultimate Circuit: In this workshop, you will
learn an extensive range of exercises performed
in 1-3 minute intervals. Shelly will teach you cardio
drills and creative strength conditioning exercises
that are designed for all levels of participants.
This program is not only easy to teach, but fun,
motivating and effective!
Presenter: Shelly McDonald
Shelly McDonald is an internationally recognized
presenter. She is known for her unique and innovative
ideas, as well as her creative choreography. Shelly
received a bachelor’s degree in Physical
Education from McGill University and a diploma
in Recreational Studies from Dawson College. She
is currently working as the program coordinator
at Club Sportif MAA while teaching Physical Education
classes at Marianopolis College. Shelly is most
renown for her involvement with television’s
:The Carribean Workout.” A dynamic and motivating
presenter, these sessions are not to be missed!

Contents:
This 40-hour theoretical and practical specialty
course will provide you with the tools required
to evaluate and train clients according to their
individual needs. This course includes postural
assessment, muscle and joint testing, and the
application of basic functional tests. These skills
provide the trainer with a more accurate blueprint
for the strength and conditioning needs of his/her
clients. Athletic, injured, and de-conditioned
clients will benefit greatly from corrective conditioning
programs.
Pre-Requisites : YMCA FIT Phase
II / III in Individual Conditioning or Equivalent.
This course will be offered in English.
Presenters:
Louise Malone [B.Phys.Ed.], teaches in
the Department of Kinesiology at McGill University
and oversees the Adult Fitness Department at the
Ben Weider YM-YWHA. She holds a Bachelor’s
Degree in Physical Education, and a Certificate
in Sports Therapy. Louise has presented numerous
seminars and conferences for CAN-FIT PRO, CAIA,
and YMCA. Louise also teaches classes in consumer
nutrition & weight management, and has published
several articles related to fitness & nutrition.
Raphael Jabbour [B.Sc., C.A.T. CHEK II], is a
certified athletic therapist and a CHEK practioner.
Raphael treats and trains a wide scope of athletes.
His clients span from Olympic National Level Judo
athletes to your average weekend warrior. Raphael
combines his background of sports medicine and
rehab to provide a corrective conditioning approach
to his clients.

Course description:
This course trains you to recognize the signals
of a heart attack, stroke, and choking. You will
know how to react to these emergency situations,
and be able to perform CPR until emergency medical
services arrive. During the course, you will learn
skills that will make you an important link to
the Chain of Survival; healthy choices, early
recognition, early access, early CPR, defibrilation,
advanced care and rehabilitation. You will learn
how to perform CPR for infants, children and adults.
Once certified, will receive a certification card
from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec.

the only strength coach to combine posturology and
osteopathy with his strength training protocols.

Athletes that he has worked with include Jamie Sale
and David Pelletier, Toronto Maple Leafs and the
National Speed Skating Team.
In this workshop you will learn:
- How to test the inner unit and outer unit (proper
use of the blood pressure cuff).
- Which muscles need to be stretched and which
need to be strengthened to have an optimum core
function.
- How to progress each exercise.
- Learn how some foods can disrupt core functions.
- How to apply and periodize core exercises into
athletes programs.
